This year’s confirmation class is enjoying a new curriculum. Confirmation is a class that meets from September until May. In the month of May, youth and their mentors meet with the session for an examination for membership. At the end of this time, baptized youth make a formal decision to join the church and step into full membership privileges.

In a tradition that often baptizes infants, Confirmation is the culmination of a child’s baptism. As if to say, “Yes, I agree with the baptism that the adults in my life provided me and I now want to declare my faith as an informed person.”

At First Presbyterian, Confirmation is a Sunday morning experience where youth gather to learn of the Presbyterian church’s history, tradition and particularities. They undertake a course of study that prepares them to validate the baptism of their infancy and prepares them to become members of the church. The process of membership includes a meeting with the church session and a Confirmation Sunday in the month of May.Attendance is required in this program.

Facilitators are Brandy Stadter, Angie Pennock, Justin and Callie Benton.Confirmation is typically offered every other year.
